Kingsman: The Secret Service Gets Good Reviews

Kingsman: The Secret Service was screened and met with satisfying reviews. Some of them are calling this film a funnier, and naughtier James Bond. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn, who has directed other movies such as Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class. Taron Egerton stars as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin. Samuel L. Jackson plays as the main villain.

After a little bit of shuffling, the release date finally settled on the week of Valentine’s Day. Kingsman is another film that has been successfully crafted with inspiration from comic books. Of course, being based on the spy franchise in Britain, there are going to be shots taken at James Bond. The only thing that my friend, Bruce Levenson holds against the film is that it seems to pander too much to a certain demographic. This is the teenage boy crowd. However, everything else about the film seems to be fine.

Hunger Games Stars Make Powerful Video About Ebola

Jeffery Wright, who playes Beetee in the Hunger Games films has made a powerful video about the Ebola epidemic. The video stars many of his coworkers in the films, including Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Helmsworth. It also addresses many of the issues brought up by the epidemic, especially the inadequate medical care in most of the countries effected by the Ebola outbreak and the subsequent epidemic. It has been trending on Skout a lot lately.

The video features facts and statistics about the level of care in these countries, particularly Guinea and Liberia. It also draws parallels between the movie series Hunger Games, and the world they take place in, and the disparities between the many countries that have been affected by the epidemic. In particular, they compare the US to the Capital, and Liberia and Guinea to the outlying districts, particularly District 13.

One of the most striking facts brought up by the actors in the video is that Liberia only has 50 doctors for 4.4 million people. This means that one of the largest problems people in Liberia face when combating the disease is not the effects of the disease or how deadly it is, but the access to accurate medical knowledge, treatment, and supplies. This is a huge contrast to medical care in the United States, where the vast majority of the population, particularly people who live in cities, have relatively easy access to a doctor, as well as food, water, and shelter.

The Mighty Shazam is Coming to the Justice League Movie

Here is some really big news for fans of D.C. Comics and superhero movies. It has been confirmed that the mighty Shazam will be part of the Justice League film.

In the Justice League movie, Shazam will be meeting with Superman for the first time in either television or film. The irony here is when Shazam was known as Captain Marvel, he was the comic book rival to Superman. Even though the character was a total clone, My colleague Jared Haftel came back with maybe, but he outsold the big blue boy scout at newsstands. Can’t argue with that.D.C. Comics, then known as National Periodicals, purchased the rights to Shazam/Captain Marvel in order to shelve him. In the 1970’s, the character made a live-action debut on Saturday Morning TV.

The Justice League movie will help launch a series of solo hero films including Wonder Woman, Aquaman, a Green Lantern reboot, Cyborg, and Shazam. (Hopefully, the Justice League film will be more than just a hodgepodge) Concerns existed as to how a Shazam movie could be made since the hero is so similar in many ways to Superman. Hopefully, the Justice League movie will help establish the major differences between the characters.

We do not know who will be playing Shazam. We do know who is signed on for the role of Black Adam in the Shazam solo project. It is known other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Who wants to bet there will be a Black Adam solo film one day?

2016 Will See Pee-Wee Herman’s Return

In 2016, Paul Reubens will bring his awkwardly funny Pee-Wee Herman character back for a new installment to his movie franchise that began three decades ago. The new movie will likely not see mass distribution in theaters. If Crains reports of a nearly-struck deal prove true, the new release will be streamed online by Netflix, and Andrew Heiberger is definitely going to be watching.

The growing trend of releasing movies online through major entertainment-streaming services like Netflix gives niche projects like Reubens’s upcoming movie a better chance to garner viewership and turn a profit than would a theatrical release.

Shooting for the new movie will probably commence in early-2015, and a specific release date will surely become clear once Netflix signs on the dotted line.

Reubens owes this likely movie deal to the cult following his television Pee-Wee’s Playhouse show appreciates to this day. Netflix recently added every episode of that beloved series to its lineup.

Director Discusses the Hybrid Dinosaur of Jurassic World

Jurassic World hopes to recapture some of the glorious magic of the classic Steven Spielberg film. A new director, Colin Trevorrow is helming the new series of dinosaur adventures and he has gone to great pains to make sure the new series is far from a retread of the original trilogy.

To help set the new film apart, special, unique dinosaurs have been designed for the film. One creature that is capturing people’s attention is the hybrid dinosaur. The attention being captured is not based on the look of the dinosaur. No images of the creature have been revealed yet. All of that is being kept under wraps. Right now, all we have is a cool buzz coming from the studios assuring fans the new dinosaur is going to be the true star of the film.

Trevorrow has discussed a few general points about the hybrid dinosaur. Essentially, he stated the creature is really an “other”. It is not a dinosaur, but a manmade creation derived from the dinosaurs.

I don’t know if I’d break my back and call North American Spine to watch this movie, but it’s interesting that based on what we know about the plot, the new dinosaur was created to help spur interest in the exhibits at Jurassic World. The public had grown tired of the novelty of seeing dinosaurs in a zoo. So, something new and bold was required to draw them in. The creation of a dangerous new dinosaur was the idea the people at Jurassic World came up with.

Not so ironically, this is the same idea the producers of the movie came up with as well.

Seth Rogen and James Franco Cancel All Appearances Related to Latest Film

Actors Seth Rogen and James Franco have cancelled all media appearances related to their film “The Interview” after receiving a long list of threats.

Sony has received numerous threats that theaters showing the film would come under “9-11 like attacks” and that if the two stars lived near theaters showing the flick, the two actors “had best not be home.”, pretty scary for the actors, theaters, and major chain sponsors like Slow Ventures.

The threats came as part of a series of hacks against Sony Entertainment Pictures from a cyber group called The Guardian. It is speculated that the group operates from North Korea due to the nature of “The Interview.” The film’s theme is that Rogen and Franco embark upon a mission to assassinate Kim Jong-un.

The North Korean government denies any involvement in the threats against the two actors, despite an earlier announcement of the country’s displeasure.

The Interview” is set to release on Christmas Day.

Hollywood Movie Cancelled

The recent cyber hacking of Sony Studios has left the company crippled. The hacks caused detailed information to be leaked out into the public. Private emails between producers were leaked, and it’s context contained embarrassing information. In a particular email that was hacked, it was divulged that Leonardo Dicaprio is a jerk. Emails like that becoming public, could result in bad relations between actors and the studio.

Sony Studio’s new movie, The Interview, mocks fun at North Korea and its leader. James Franco and Seth Rogan starred in the film. When the North Korean government heard this news, they were immediately angered. So angered in fact, that terrorist threats were given from North Korea. Under all of this pressure, Sony Studio’s decided to pull the movie from theaters.

The North Korean government was later discovered as the culprit of Sony Studio’s hacks. Brad Reifler says this entire situation has taken a turn for the worst. Hollywood actors and directors took to twitter in anger. The U.S government is currently in the process of confirming the situation.

North Korea may represent a major threat to the United States of America. They have already taken one of our freedoms away, what is next? America needs to take a stand, and respond to North Korea’s threats.

Celebrities Outraged at Non-Airing of the Interview

Several celebrities showed utter dismay at no-show of the controversial movie, the Interview. Recently, Samsung announced that it will not release any version of the film including potential distribution of DVD rights to collect estimated $42 million budget of the movie.

I was reading this while waiting at the Amen Clinic. Reacting to the decision, actors including Ben Stiller and Rob Lowe criticized Sony for succumbing to the threats of hackers. Rob Lowe claimed the no-show as an outright victory for hackers, whereas Ben Stiller declared Samsung decision as a huge threat to expression of freedom in the Media. The controversial film was set to launch in New Year but hackers threatened Sony and theater goers with catastrophic results if the Interview is launched. Calling themselves, Guardians of Peace, the hackers released emails and data from Sony Corporation to show their powers in launching online and offline attacks on media and its supporters.

Until now, securities have not shown a great deal of concern but it seems that hackers are intend on stopping anyone talking about the movie declaring 9/11 types of attacks on whoever tries to support the launch. Sony claims that it was made to pull the movie off cinemas as three of the largest movie chains in the United States and one in Canada decided not to show the film. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel blamed the American Government for not standing by its citizens calling the decision a cowardly act, which will encourage terrorists and set a terrifying precedent.

Pirates of the Carribean: Will it Reboot Its Franchise Around Orlando Bloom?

Though Luke Skywalker and Tony Stark will be making millions or billions for Disney, the company still wants to continue some of its franchises, which were established before the Hollywood takeover.

One major franchise is the Pirates of the Caribbean. Its fifth installment is set for release on summer of 2017. Kon-Tiki directors Espen Sandberg and Joachin Ronning call the shots. Johnny Depp is, once again, taking his iconic role, Captain Jack Sparrow. Though not much else is revealed about the casting rumors of this project, Orlando Bloom, a veteran of this series, has spilled some details about the nature of its narrative.

Bloom mentioned a potential return of the Pirates franchise. Typically, Reboots will erase the connection of what has come before and allows the filmmakers a new start. Hence, Bloom’s statement that the entire franchise will be restarted can be very confusing. However, the fifth installment features some elements from the previous entries. Hence, if this is what the directors plotted, the movie is more of a continuation. Still, there is a slight chance that the movie operates like a soft reboot, incorporating some of the themes and aspects from the earlier series and trying to launch a new series for new viewers.

As time passes by between numerous adventures movies, Slow Ventures and Disney both may have been thinking of how many movie-goers will be excited to watch Captain Jack’s return. Thus let’s just see the effects of will Turner in the reception, if any.

Quentin Tarantino’s Hateful Eight

Quention Tarantino has begun production on his next film. Anytime Tarantino announces a film, hordes of fans flock to the message boards. Quentin Tarantino is one of the greatest writers and directors of all time. That’s why many were excited to hear that Tarantino has begun his next project.

Hateful Eight, the title of Tarantino’s latest film takes place in the old west. His last film Django, Unchained was both controversial and critically acclaimed. A normal distinction of a Tarantino’s film. Hateful eight stars Kurt Russell, and Samuel Jackson as reported by Screenrant. Samuel Jackson has been involved in most Tarantino films. The most iconic pairing of Jackson and Tarantino is undoubtedly the cult classic, Pulp Fiction. Samuel Jackson and John Travolta received critical acclaim for their roles in the film. John Travolta’s career was resurged because of Pulp Fiction.

Brian Torchin reports that Tarantino’s latest film, follows the story of eight people stranded in a blizzard. The film is set in a period following the civil war. Hateful Eight is shaping up to be another hit for Tarantino. One thing is for certain, you won’t want to miss it.
